Tiger Cues cues are hand made by a team of cue makers headed up by Darryl Ellis our head cue maker, with everyone in the team having at least 10 years cue making experience. Each cue is made from start to finish by the same individual cue maker from timbers individually selected to ensure the best possible cue in the final result. All the timber used in our cues is hand selected from only the best grades of ash and maple for the shafts, and ebony for the butts. Care is also taken when selecting the wide range of ornate and decorative woods used for the butt splice work.

Depending on model, each cue takes at least four to six months to make with timber being left to rest and acclimatize to the changes being made to it at key points in the cues birth.

None of our Cues have any black painted-up or covered up woods to look like ebony. Nor do we use any clear lacquers on our cues. The butt and shaft are finished with two differing cue finishing methods, with the butt finish being a little more robust. The finish on our cues is that taught to us by Kev, a finish he mastered during the 30 plus years he made cues. See the "Thanks to Kev " comments below for more info on Kev and his relationshipm with Tiger Cues. The entire finish will feel sleek and smooth whilst holding to allow for effortless shot making. We do not use any lacquer, just wood polish, sealants and some "money can't buy" cue finsihing  knowledge thanks to Kev.

All our cues come with a no quibble money back guarantee to be as described here and be a great quality cue. If you find anything you are not happy with, then return the cue and we will refund you in full including shipping. This never happens, but is peace of mind for any potential new customer.

Thanks Kevin Muncaster from all here at Tiger Cues!

Tiger Cues has to give a big thank you to Kevin Muncaster from Freckelton near Preston (now retired) formerly of Barracuda and North West Cues.

Kev was a UK cue maker for over forty years and arguably one of the best in the UK for most of his career.

Darryl the owner of Tiger Cues and Kev have been friends for nearly thirty years and Kev has been instrumental in helping Darryl take Tiger Cues in the right direction. Kevin has been working with Darryl for over a decade now passing on his cue making, customization and repair knowledge.

Tiger Cues started in 2010 only with thanks to Kev's advice, lessons and instruction on the art of cue making, customization and repair. We can't thank Kev enough for his help over the years, he still regularly pops down to Warrington to meet with Darryl in our workshop for a coffee and provide sessions passing on his vast experience and knowledge. Kudos to you Kev, we wouldn't be where we are without you! :0)

When we list our cues on sale here in the Online Shop, on eBay or on Amazon we provide with the item a detailed list of specification information as follows:

  • Cue Weight in ounces
  • Cue Length in inches
  • Cue Tip Size in millimetres
  • Cue Butt width in millimetres
  • Balance Point in centimetres
  • Shaft Strength
  • Tip fitted to the cue
  • Cue Finish

To help you understand these specification information, from left to right the following pictures show exactly how we measure some of this information:

  1. Butt width is measured directly through the middle point of our logo disc.
  2. Tip size is measured at the top most point of the ferrule.
  3. The balance point is measured from the base of the cue to the exact point it balances on our rig. A measurement of 370mm would be classed as a rear weighted cue and anything measuring 440mm and above we would class as a significantly forward weighted cue.
  4. The cue length measurement is from the base of the cue to the top of the brass ferrule. Our cue length measurement does not include the tip itself.

For a number of years we have been working on our own cue tip matching the quality expected of a Tiger Cues product. After years of testing we think we have the perfect tip for longevity and performance. They have been fitted to all of our cues in the range for over 12 months now including our Elite cues and feedback has been better than we could of hoped.

As a result of the positive feedback we released our "Tiger Cues - Black" tips in October 2020 for sale online. The tips are a mid to firm and are really worth a try if you dont already have one

All our cues are now shipped fitted with a Tiger Cues - Black tip. With the tips being a mid to firm tip we highly recomend a good quality chalk like Triangle or Toam. If you have a preference for a different tip type when buying a Tiger Cue then please get it touch to discuss, we will be more than happy to accomadate most requirements.

All cues in our standard range are made from either genuine American Mountain Ash or Canadian Maple grade A shafts squares. We use only the best professional grade A+ shafts (Maple and Ash) in our Elite Pro cues and use only the best ornate feature woods for splice work in the cue butt.

We replace the black ebony used in our standard range with the far more expensive Dark Brown 'Macassar' ebony. This type of ebony is the finest available for cue making hence the cost.

The Elite Pro cue shafts are professional grade in both specification and aesthetics.

  • The professional grade Ash shafts have no "O" grain marks with evenly spaced minimal grain chevrons from ebony splice to tip. The shafts are a 9 or 10 on the strength and stiffness scale.
  • The professional grade Maple shafts have no pin knots or hard spots and there will be no visible mineral or sugar marks. The shafts are a 9 or 10 on the strength and stiffness scale.
The Macassar ebony brings with it beautiful cloudy dark brown swirls which will age over the years and slowly reveal more and more character from the swirling grain in the wood. For more information on the differences between these ebony type's please read through the "Our Woods" page above.
